1. Why are youth placed in foster
care?
Most of the youth are placed in foster care because their
parents suffer from substance abuse or untreated mental illness
and are unable to adequately care for them. A small number of youth
are abused by a parent or caregiver and are removed from
their care.
2. If I give you my email address who will have access to it?
Your email address will be kept by Voices for Children for
use only when a need for a youth arises. The list will not be sold
or used to solicit any contributions from you.
3. How frequently will I receive emails?
You will receive a monthly email unless an urgent need
arises.
4. If I make a donation of an item to a youth will I receive a tax
letter?
All donations will receive a thank you letter from Voices for
Children. They will ask you for the estimated worth of the item you
are donating.
5. If I donate an item, how will it get to the youth?
Voices for Children staff will arrange to pick up the item
and deliver it to the youth.
6. If I am interested in mentoring, would I have to go through
training?
Yes, Voices for Children will train you and do a criminal
background check before you will be matched with a youth.
7.Will additional consultation be provided to mentors after being
trained?
Voices for Children will provide a Licensed Clinical Social
Work Supervisor to all mentors for guidance and support through the
mentoring process.
8. If I know of a group that might be interested in helping
Fostering Futures who should I contact?
